No he encontrado en Saint Etienne, ninguna reminiscencia a grupos de música de los años 60 como Fleetwood Mac o The Mama's and the Papa's. Pero de lo que estoy seguro, es, de haber encontrado en el disco "Smash the System: Singles and More" a una banda hecha así misma. El grupo británico Saint Etienne, pretende alejarse de los esterotipos de música pop británica para interpretar, desde su perpectiva, el pop electrónico continental. En la primera parte del álbum, podemos encontrarnos temas como "Join our club", "You're in a bad way", "who do you think you are" o "Pale movie" cuya base podría haber firmado el grupo Ace of Base, pero con un toque diferencial en cada tema, hecho que los va a marcar en sus sucesivos sencillos.
Durante la década de los 90, Saint Ettiene maduró su sonido, más elaborado y menos cercano a otros grupos de dance-pop o tecno-pop o pop con base progressive... elijan ustedes la definición que quieran. Sin embargo, lo que si encuentro en esta segunda parte del álbum, es un cierto aire, sin pretender hacer una similitud, al artista finés, Jimi Tenor, quién por entonces también se aproximaba a la música electrónica.
"Lose that girl", tema recomendable para conocer a este grupo del que se ha dicho que, ha ido en "contracorriente" de la industria musical y del que un servidor agradece.

The British group Saint Etienne, intends to move away British pop stereotypes to play, from their point of view, continental electronic pop. First part of the album, we discover songs like "Join our club", "You're in a bad way", "Who do you think you are" or "Pale Movie" whose "bit" could have signed by Ace of Base but with a differential touch on each track, a fact they will mark in its subsequent singles.
During the 90's, Saint Etienne matured their sound, more elaborate and less close to other groups of dance-pop or techno-pop or pop with progressive base ... choose the definition you want. However, what if I find in this second part of the album, is an air, it isn't an analogy with the Finnish artist, Jimi Tenor, who also then approached the electronic music.
"Lose That Girl" theme advisable to know this group has been said that has been on the "upstream" of the music industry and thanks you for that.
